GOMBAK, 11 January 2015: International Islamic University Malaysia is sending its flood relief volunteers to Kota Bharu, Kelantan tonight. An estimated 120 students have registered and would turn up for their journey to Kelantan to start their volunteering work tomorrow. The students will be sent to Kelantan under the supervision of the Centre for University Social Responsibility (CENSERVE) in collaboration with Student Representative Council (SRC IIUM).
Three buses carrying the volunteers will depart the university campus at 10.30 p.m tonight and are scheduled to arrive at the destination by 8 a.m tomorrow. Giving the briefing to the volunteers, the leader of student representatives mentioned the tasks expected to be performed which are multi tasking in nature and there will be many things that could be done there at the flood affected place. The volunteers will focus on helping the community to clean schools, mosques, offices and many other building and places.
The relief team is also bringing along goods collected from the donors as contributions to be distributed among the victims. The relief team is scheduled to finish their volunteering work within three days and will return to the university campus on 14 January.***
