In an official statement released by Professor Dato’ Dr Mizan Hitam, the fire that broke out at Mahallah Ali the day before did not cause any human injuries and was brought under control swiftly by the café staff of Mahallah Ali.
Professor Dato’ Dr. Mizan himself went to the scene during the fire as he was on campus when he heard the news.
According to him, it was the quick reactions of cafe staff of Mahallah Ali that saved the café from razing to the ground. Minutes after, firefighters arrived to the scene to assist the situation.
The deputy rector of students affairs too mentioned that although the situation is now back to normal although steps must be taken to ensure the safety of staff and students in the future.
Professor Dato’ Dr Mizan stressed that the fire was not caused by sabotage, and initial reports have attributed it to a gas leak.
