EasyJet pre-tax profit climbs to £581m

LONDON: EasyJet Plc, Europes second-biggest discount airline, boosted full-year earnings by more than a fifth and said it will expand capacity by as much as five per cent this year as it seeks to add passengers. Pre-tax profit for the year ended September 30 climbed to £581 million (RM2.9 billion) from £478 million a year earlier, Luton, England-based EasyJet said yesterday. That beat the £578.8 million average estimate of analysts. Under chief executive officer Carolyn McCall, EasyJet has ramped up presence at key airports and targeted business travellers with add-ons like allocated seats, flexible tickets and security fast-tracking.
