Ummatic week to feature cultural diversity

GOMBAK: In the upcoming week, the community of International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) will once again be presented with its annual Global Ummatic Festival to celebrate the cultural diversity within the university.

With the theme “By the Ummah We Stand”, this year’s festival highlights many events which include Ummatic Exhibition, Ummatic Run, Global Ummatic Lecture, Food Fair, Video Competition, as well as the Ummatic Sports and Sisters’ Cultural Night.

The most awaited events are the Cultural Performances and Ummatic Feast in which many students from various countries will be participating in their traditional performances from their homeland. In the latter event, the IIUM community will be given a taste of different food and delicacies from various nations, including Mediterranean countries, Asia, and the Middle-East.

The Global Ummatic Festival will be held from 22 until 28 November at various venues around IIUM main campus in Gombak. The Opening Ceremony will take place on 24 November and the Closing Ceremony is expected to be held on 27 November. Both occasions will be held at 8.00pm at the Main Hall of the Cultural Activity Centre (CAC).***
