GOMBAK: A week of success for students of the Ahmad Ibrahim Kuliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) when they were united to have AIKOL Fest 2014 with the theme of bringing a radical change to where its not just black and white, but its beyond them. Traditionally, law students were often associated with œblack and white terminology. Instead, the AIKOL Fest 2014 came forward with a colourful theme to change the perception.
Executive Manager of AIKOL Fest 2014, Ahmad Fadhli Umar Aminolhuda, expressed his gratefulness on the successful event managed under AIKOL.
œAlhamdulillah, AIKOL Fest 2014 has successfully brought about a change. I hope the revolution of AIKOL Fest 2014 will not stop here but will be able to spearhead the change in various angles. AIKIOL Fest will be waiting for all IIUM committee next year. he said.
AIKOL Fest 2014 was held from 1Â until 7Â November 2014 with a number of activities arranged by the committees.
For the first day of the event, it was “The First Ahmad Ibrahim Symposium: The Implementation of Shariah Law in Malaysia Reality vs Fantasy.” The event opened with the talk on misconception on Shariah Law by Prof. Dr. Inayah Yaakob (expert in Islamic Finance) and Dr. Hisham Mohd Kamal (expert in international law), followed by the second session titled, “Possibilities and Challenges of the Implementation of Shariah Law in Malaysia.”
The speakers for the second session were Assoc. Prof Dr. Shamrahayu binti Abdul Aziz (Senior Fellow at IKIM), Prof Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Shad Saleem Faruqi (expert in Constitutional Law) and Tuan Musa Awang (President of Shariah lawyers).
The next day of the Festival saw the AIKOL carnival been held with activities that included cake fair, legal exhibition, and street bazaar. The event brought the Ahmad Ibrahim gallery, theatre, and AIKOL Glow Night Run.
AIKOL Fest 2014 was closed closing with rhythm of music.
The head of Publication and Promotion, Muhammad Syaqil bin Iberahim, thanked those who came for the event and supported the organisation of the Festival. He expressed the hope that such festival in future could maintain the momentum brought about by the AIKOL Fest 2014.***
