GOMBAK: Just like previous years, the Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah (SHAS) Mosque, IIUM will be organising Qurban again this year during Eidul Adha which falls on 5 October 2014.

For this year, a total of 25 cows will be slaughtered, which is higher than last year. The meat will be distributed to selected 400 people and the priority is given to those who own the coupons that have been distributed by the organising committee recently. Among them are students and staffs of the university, as well as families who are living near the universitys main campus.

Unlike previous years, this years event will be witnessed by 20 students from Australia who have been involved in student exchange programme at IIUM. They have just completed their inter-exchange study in the university but with full interest they remain here for Eid Adha, just to witness the Qurban. This is an added knowledge for them especially being in different surrounding and environment.

œQurban is one of the claims that have to be fulfilled as it is part of Islamic practice, but it’s not only limited to that, this is a way to build the ukhuwwah, not only among committee members, but also among students and staffs, Nik Haziman Nik Mat, SHAS Mosque administrative officer told IIUMToday.
