PARIS: Frances new pro-business Economy Minister Emmanuel Macron ran into trouble with trade unions yesterday for suggesting companies could be allowed exemptions to Frances 35-hour week. In an interview with Le Point, the former banker backed further labour market reform because œthat does not have a deflationary impact and could restore confidence. His words drew immediate criticism from Laurent Berger, head of the Frances moderate CFDT trade union, who insisted Macron had œmade a mistake. Reuters
