CiTRA Musical Group wins IIUM Choir Competition 2014

GOMBAK 26 August 2014: CiTRA Musical Group has won the 2014 edition of IIUM Choir Competition, organised by Corporate Communication Division (CCD) of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

The group, led by Ms. Siti Roziah Mohd Said, competed against four other groups from various Kulliyyahs and departments of the university, among them were the Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Management Service Division (MSD), and many more.

“We’re so happy to win this competition and InshaAllah, we’ll be performing and competing again soon,” Ms. Siti said in an interview after winning the competiiton.

CiTRA Musical Group won a cheque of RM2000, a set of hamper worth RM200, and participation certificates. As the winner of the competition, this group will be performing at IIUM’s Merdeka Celebration on 5 September at the Cultural Activity Centre (CAC).

IIUM Choir Competition was held on August 26 at Experimental Hall, IIUM. Among the judges of the competition were Nik Nizam Jaafar, a vocal teacher and a music professional at Istana Budaya, Normala Omar, a veteran actress and a singer, as well as Ain Sufia Othman, an actor, a singer and a former participant of Astro’s School of Lawak.

The event was attended by the director of Centre for International Islamic Culture (CiTRA), Dr. Mahadi J. Murat, Director of CCD, Dato’ Hamidon Abdul Hamid, and also staffs and students of IIUM.
