PAGOH, 30 JUNE 2026 : IIUM Pagoh Campus continues to make strides in enhancing student welfare by upgrading its on-campus transportation system with the introduction of new buses, effective this month.
The university management took the initiative to replace two aging buses that had reached the end of their service life. This initiative was made possible through a restructuring process and the signing of a new five-year contract with a transport management company, spanning from 1 May 2026, to 30 April 2031.
Both replacement buses now sport a fresh look featuring IIUM’s official corporate colors. Moving away from the standard design seen at the Gombak and Kuantan Campuses, the Pagoh Campus buses stand out with a unique blend of gold and blue, complemented by a prominent university logo. This revamped image not only instills a sense of pride among students but also aligns with the standard of facilities available across other IIUM campuses.

One unique feature of the buses under this new contract is that they look and feel like city buses (such as Rapid buses). They come complete with hanging straps for standing passengers. This creative idea is very helpful in making movement easier and ensuring the safety of students who do not get a seat during peak hours.
In addition to those two buses, IIUM Pagoh also received another new 44-seater bus fully owned by IIUM to meet the growing transport needs of the campus community.
With this new setup, the total number of transport facilities at IIUM Pagoh now includes two 44-seater buses, one Coaster bus (27 seats), one minibus (25 seats), and one Placer van (18 seats). This campus transport operates on lecture days (weekdays) and does not operate on weekends.
This proactive step has successfully solved the passenger crowding problem that used to worry students. Looking back, the lack of seats forced male and female students to crowd together in the middle aisle of the bus. The old buses also had broken seats and poor air conditioning, which were common complaints. Now, the new buses not only offer more comfortable seats but are also equipped with charging sockets to give campus members maximum comfort during their journey to class.
An IIUM Today survey among students showed that most users gave very positive feedback about this transport transformation.
One student, Br, Muhammad Irfan bin Ibrahim, expressed his satisfaction with the interior design of the vehicles, which looks more attractive. “The inside of the bus is now much wider and the decoration is very nice. Most importantly, the air conditioning is very cold and the seats are soft, making us more excited to go to class,” he said when interviewed.
Meanwhile, the transport operations manager of IIUM Pagoh, Br Zulhafizi bin Mohd Yusof, confirmed the details of the new contract. He explained that the bus fully owned by IIUM sent to the Pagoh Campus was planned to improve student welfare.
With these transport facility improvements, IIUM Pagoh Campus proves that it always listens to students to create an inclusive, supportive, and comfortable campus environment.***
