Whether you are just back from class or simply looking for a drink to sip, it just takes a moment to grab a drink to cool down your hectic day, especially in the recent scorching weather. Nowadays, we can see IIUM students across all age groups holding drinks such as matcha, iced chocolate or iced coffee in their hands on the way to class, while doing assignments or even while working out.
Having sweet treats is incredibly important for students to distract their stress from assignments or activities. Taking a break by chilling with peers is important for our peace of mind, mostly at our young age where work-life balance is something that can be hard to achieve.
Sleepless nights and never-ending assignments are so much work that can be stressful. Staying up all night to catch deadlines and then attending class the next morning is when a caffeine boost is needed.
Coffee has 100 mg to 120 mg of caffeine for one 8-ounce cup and sometimes the caffeine from coffee can be too overwhelming for someone. When coffee is too much to handle, matcha is the answer as the alternative of caffeine. Why? Because matcha also has caffeine but not as much as coffee. In matcha, the amount of caffeine is only 38 mg to 89 mg for one eight-ounce cup which is much less than coffee. Matcha also has its own benefits; it contains an abundance of antioxidants and phytochemicals. These substances may have some positive effects on our health, particularly when they are consumed in foods that naturally contain them, said Christina Frank, the Health Writer for Harvard Health Publishing
Come, Take a Moment Here
Talking about matcha, Brew & Blossom, a pop-up stall in IIUM Gombak offers a wide variety of trending drinks that for sure is Gen Z-approved! Starting from a perfect blend of matcha strawberry to strong-flavoured Vietnamese coffee, Brew and Blossom always makes sure to provide various drinks that are suited to everyone’s taste. This aesthetic cafe was opened around 2024 where they had signature beverages for coffees, chocolate drinks and the most famous one, matcha. Even flowers are available for purchase if you want to get some for your beloved friends.
Usually, Brew & Blossom receives support from KENMS students. After an exhausting math class, treating themselves with matcha latte is definitely a way to ease the tiredness. But, specifically on 5th and 6th May 2026, an exciting food festival will be held at HS square. It is a location in the centre of IIUM which is good news for all students who can grab the opportunity of buying sweet treats before or after class.
This can be dome when coming from the SHAS Mosque after prayers or going back from the Speech Lab in HS building, by making a quick stop at Gombak Food Festival 4.0 to enjoy the moment.
Why is Brew & Blossom special in Gombak Food Festival 4.0? They participated in the previous Gombak Food Festival which is GGF3.0 in early 2026. This means that they are special enough to come back for another version of Gombak Food Festival GGF 4.0.

“At Brew & Blossom, we’ve always believed in brewing more than just great coffee. We brew energy, motivation, and community” — A cafe that is not just about selling coffee and chasing profit, the way they care about what is happening, what is the best for the student and try to give what they can, it is about how they understand the situation of the student. “For me, this is the definition of ‘From students, for students,” said an unnamed student of IIUM, on Brew & Blossom’s Instagram page.
