It is 3:30 in the morning. I cannot not close my eyes even though I am feeling exhausted and sleepy. My mind cannot stop thinking, my head feels heavy. I cannot stop thinking about the numerous submissions of assignments and upcoming tests that will be held every day during this week. I keep thinking about the all these deadlines and tests that are happening continuously. I cannot let this keep roaming on my mind as I need to rest and attend tomorrow’s classes. Thus, I turned on my smartphone, search for the university’s academic calendar, and realise, it is the week 8, a crucial week for all students. Now, I need to force myself to go to sleep.
I close my eyes for a while, and then, “ring…. ring…,” I hear my alarm ringing from my phone. I get up from my bed feeling tired and turn off the alarm. At the same time, I look at the clock, it is 7 a.m.! My class is at 8 a.m., so I rush to the bathroom and prepare myself to go to class.
On my way to the class, I notice that a group of vendors setting up their stall at the Human Sciences’ Square. I whisper to myself, “Oh, it must be for the upcoming event, Gombak Food Festival 4.0,” and continue walking to my class. I know about the event because last week, a poster about it from the official page of Gombak Food Fest (@gombakfoodfest), made its way into my Instagram feed.
As my class finishes, I return to my room as I need to study for my upcoming tests and finish my assignments. As I walk back to my room, I walk past the stalls of Gombak Food Festival 4.0 because it is on the same route to my Mahallah.

An Unexpected Sweet Discovery
As I walk by the stalls, I notice the stall that was mentioned by my classmate before, in class. Suddenly my curiosity kicks in, I want to see what the hype of the vendor is all about. Therefore, I check it out. I look at the poster at the counter, that says, “Introducing Kukii, your ultimate destination for thick, chewy soft cookies that are baked to perfection with premium flavours. Whether you’re a fan of the classic chocolate chip or adventurous pistachio kunafa, every bite is a little piece of dessert heaven.” Seeing the poster, I know that the vendor is selling chewy soft cookies, and suddenly it comes to my mind that all soft cookies are expensive. But when I look at the menu list, they turn out to be much cheaper than I expected. Without any hesitation, I say to the owner of the booth, “One classic chocolate chip Kukii, please!”
More than Just a Cookie, A Moment to Remember
On my way back to my room, I try the cookie. The moment, I take a bite, I can feel the warmness and chewiness of the cookies. It tastes so good despite the price. I turn back to the stall to buy some more cookies for my roommates so they can try them too.

In the room, I give a different flavoured cookie to each roommate. We sit and share the cookies together so we can taste all the different flavours. Suddenly, one of my roommates talks about her problems and how hectic she feels in the week. Then, all of us talk about our own problems too. We also laugh and talk about random things while enjoying the cookies. For a moment, I feel like all the weight on my shoulders is lifted away.
After the sharing session, one of my roommates asks about the Kukii booth, but I do not know anything other than the name of the person at the booth. Hence, I suggest she look up the brand on Instagram. We look it up together and find the official Instagram page for Kukii (@kukii.my). The biography states, “Turning Little Sweet Things into Sweet Moments & Memories,” and we all agree with that. Of course the Gombak Food Festival 4.0 has not started yet! This was all part of a dream.
