IWON Pagoh Shines on International and National Stages Through Outstanding Oratory Achievements

By, Muhammad Hanif Bin Naim

IWON Pagoh continues to make the university community proud as two representatives from the Malay Language Debate Club (KDBM), IIUM World Debate and Oratory Centre (IWON) Pagoh, achieved remarkable success at both international and national levels through prestigious public speaking competitions.

On 28 November 2025, Br. Imran Husaini Bin Mazlan secured the title of First Runner-Up which is second place from a huge number of participants at the Education Malaysian Jordan (EMJ) International Public Speaking Competition 2025, held online with participants from various countries. This achievement carries profound significance, as it came just a week after a painful defeat that nearly tested his resolve.

Rather than allowing the setback to extinguish his spirit, Br. Imran Husaini transformed disappointment into determination. The previous loss became a catalyst for growth, shaping him into a more composed, resilient, and refined speaker. From returning home empty-handed in the past to standing proudly as the Vice Champion this year, his journey reflects the essence of perseverance and the power of learning from failure.

At the national level, Br. Hanif Naim, another representative from KDBM IWON Pagoh, achieved Third Place in the Sayembara Suara Inspirasi Serikandi 2025 (Final Round). This accomplishment marks his third competition in 2025, with a consistent third-place finish across all participations throughout the year.

This consistency highlights not only Br. Hanif Naim’s courage and commitment but also his mental resilience and discipline in the demanding world of competitive oratory. Such steady performance underscores his strong potential for greater success in the future.

The achievements of Br. Imran Husaini and Br. Hanif Naim have brought honour not only to themselves but also to IWON Pagoh as an institution that nurtures critical thinkers, confident speakers, and principled leaders. Their success serves as a powerful source of inspiration to fellow students, proving that failure is not the end, but often the beginning of a stronger return.

The Malay Language Debate Club (KDBM) and the entire IWON Pagoh community extend their heartfelt congratulations and prayers, with the hope that 2026 will be a year of championship victories for both Br. Imran Husaini and Br. Hanif Naim.***
