GOMBAK, 10 December 2025: An Indonesian graduate from Kulliyyah of Sustainable Tourism and Contemporary Languages (KSTCL), Putri Oktavianty recounted her journey studying in IIUM after she was conferred her degree in Bachelor of Arts in Arabic for International Communication (Honours) during the ninth session of the 41st IIUM Convocation Ceremony at the Main Hall of IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC).
In an exclusive interview with IIUMToday, Putri shared that she is from Bandung, West Java and was one of the three Indonesian students in her faculty. “It was awesome! There were only three of us but we got to depend on each other,” she said.
The Arabic language studies graduate recalled not to struggle academically but instead faced a challenge in finding places to hangout outside of the Pagoh campus.
“Living in Pagoh is far from everywhere else and in the first semester, it was hard to find a restaurant. But after later semesters, Pagoh has developed a lot,” she explained.
Putri also explained how being a student in IIUM helped her in enhancing her Arabic language skill when asked about her choice of choosing IIUM for continuing her studies.
“I got to directly learn and speak with the Arabic language native speakers,” she added.
Putri shared that currently she is working in Malaysia as a content moderator at Accenture for the Indonesian market.***
