GOMBAK, 9 December 2025 : A valedictory speech by a graduate from Kuliyyah of Medicine, Dr. Amirah Binti Abd Wahab touched the hearts of many at the seventh session of 41st Convocation Ceremony at the Main Hall of IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC), IIUM Gombak campus.
Dr. Amirah shared that after secondary school, she was unsure which path to take toward her dream. With advice from her sister, she decided to follow her heart and that decision led her to pursue medicine at IIUM until being awarded as Best Academic Student.
Throughout her journey, she learned lessons beyond textbooks and classroom.
“My journey has taught me patience, sincerity, empathy, resilience, and humility,” she remarked.
To her, becoming a doctor is not just a job but a responsibility.
“Serving people is not just a profession, it is an honour and one of the greatest amanah a person can hold,” she said.
Dr. Amirah thanked lecturers, university staff, and especially her family. She expressed deep gratitude to her parents and family, saying their love and prayers kept her strong.
Before ending, she encouraged her fellow graduates to focus on character and positive impact.
“Success is not measured only by titles or achievements, but by the goodness we spread and the impact we leave,” she advised.
She closed with a hopeful reminder, “Today is not the end, but a beginning. A beginning filled with hope, purpose, and endless possibilities.”***
