GOMBAK, 8 December 2025 : A simple group assignment in their third year turned into a life-changing moment for two Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) students, as married couple Farah Athirah Binti Rosli and Ayatur Rahman Bin Muzammil celebrated their graduation side-by-side in the fourth session of the 41st IIUM Convocation Ceremony at the Main Hall of IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC), IIUM Gombak campus.
The pair, who met when a lecturer placed them in the same group, shared that their relationship blossomed naturally through academic teamwork. “We were assigned together for a group task and that’s how we got to know each other,” they said.
The couple explained that balancing married life and academic responsibilities was made easier through consistent teamwork.
“We do everything together. Study, housework, daily routines. That’s how we support each other,” Farah shared.
As law graduates, the couple said they often discuss legal issues at home but avoid turning disagreements into debates.
“We don’t argue. Even when we fight, we discuss things logically,” Ayatur added with a laugh.
Looking ahead, both plan to pursue their chambering and continue their careers as lawyers. Although placed at different firms, they will begin their professional journey at the same time.

When asked for advice to current AIKOL students, Farah encouraged others not to measure their progress against anyone else.
“Don’t be too hard on yourself. Everyone’s rezeki is different. Some people receive blessings through marriage, some later through career or studies. Take care of yourself as much as you focus on your education,” she said.
Ayatur added a simple message: “If you want to do something, you have to be brave.”
Their story stands as a reminder that sometimes, academic teamwork can lead to unexpected but beautiful beginnings beyond the classroom.***
