GOMBAK, 8 December 2025: During the fourth session of the 41st IIUM Convocation, a heart-warming moment was witnessed as two siblings, Kaisara binti Mohamad and Kantara binti Mohamad were being conferred together in the same session at IIUM Cultural Centre (ICC). The sisters graduated from Ahmad Ibrahim Kulliyyah of Laws (AIKOL) in Bachelor of Laws (Honours).

In an exclusive interview with IIUMToday, the sisters shared that walking across the stage on the same day was more than a ceremonial milestone, it was a shared achievement built through academic support and sibling closeness.

Kantara, the younger sister, remarked, “It feels very special because not everyone gets to celebrate with their beloved sibling.” The older sister, Kaisara, continued, “I feel very honored to graduate with her as the one that is close to me and the one that I always confide in about everything.”

The sisters, who were separated by 11 months, shared that it was never their intention to continue the study together as they both had distinct interests such as aviation and medicine. However, academic realities shifted their initial interests and led them into the field of law.

Kaisara and Kantara agreed that studying alongside a sibling brought many advantages such as sharing textbooks, notes and examination tips.

However, they also acknowledged the challenges like the lecturers mistakenly misidentified them and constant comparisons in terms of academic performance.

“No one gets left behind as we always study together,” said Kantara when asked about the memorable part of their academic journey. Kaisara then continued, “If one of us has a mental breakdown, we will try to uplift each other.”

Lastly, both sisters expressed their gratitude to their parents and shared their plans to further their studies in the future. ***
