MUSXIIUM 2025: IIUM Students Unite for Campus Cleanliness and Environmental Awareness

The spirit of volunteerism and environmental care came alive as the Persatuan Mahasiswa Anak Terengganu Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia (PERMATA UIAM) under the Kelab Sahabat Anak Malaysia organised the Program Gotong-Royong Mahasiswa Untuk Semua X IIUM (MUSXIIUM) around the IIUM Gombak campus.

The gotong-royong activity, held along the route from Shell Jalan Lingkaran Tengah 2 to the
IIUM main gate, gathered enthusiastic participation from 131 students, staff, and local collaborators who joined hands to beautify the campus surroundings and strengthen the spirit of volunteerism within the IIUM community.

This year’s MUSXIIUM was carried out in collaboration with several key partners, including Majlis Perbandaran Selayang (MPS), Daya Bersih Sdn. Bhd. (DBSB), the IIUM Office of Security Management (OSeM), the IIUM Occupational Safety, Health and Built Environment Department (OSHBE), and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM). Their support added professional guidance and encouragement to the students’ collective efforts.

In his address, Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Ahmad Nadzaruddin bin Abdul Razak, Group Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer of IIUM Holdings Sdn. Bhd. commended the participants for their initiative and sense of responsibility toward the environment.

“This initiative could not have come at a better time. With the upcoming IIUM Convocation in just two months, your efforts today go beyond cleaning the highway; you are contributing to the image and pride of our university. When families and guests arrive to celebrate our graduates, they will also witness how
our students care for the environment and uphold the values of cleanliness and excellence that IIUM stands for,” he said.

The event not only encouraged environmental awareness but also cultivated a sense of civic duty and shared responsibility among IIUM students. Many described the experience as deeply rewarding, a simple yet meaningful way to give back to the university community.

MUSXIIUM 2025 was made possible through generous sponsorships from IIUM Holdings Sdn. Bhd., whose contributions supported the logistics, cleaning materials, lunch, and refreshments for volunteers throughout the day, while Luqs Collection contributed specially designed jerseys for all participants, symbolising unity and pride throughout the event.

As the programme came to an end, the smiles and teamwork among participants reflected
the true IIUM spirit that this community cares, serves, and upholds the university’s vision as
a “Garden of Knowledge and Virtue.”***
