IIUM Pagoh Students Shine at National Medical Device Awareness Programme 2025

CYBERJAYA, 7 October 2025 – The Medical Device Awareness Programme 2025, organised by the Medical Device Authority (MDA) in collaboration with the University of Cyberjaya (UoC), concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from various universities and schools across Selangor and Putrajaya. The programme aimed to enhance public awareness on the importance of using registered and safe medical devices, while fostering effective public communication skills among youth.

One of the highlights of the event was the Medical Device Public Speaking Competition, which gathered contestants from six universities and four secondary schools. In the university category, Muhammad Faris Fiqran bin Muhamad from Multimedia University (MMU) emerged as the Champion, followed by Muhammad Faizal bin Ishak from Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNITAR) as First Runner-Up, and Muhammad Hanif bin Naim from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) Pagoh Campus securing the Third Place. Meanwhile, Muhammad Hafiz Zhafri bin Abdul Kamal, also from IIUM Pagoh, impressively placed Sixth among all university competitors.

Both Br. Hanif Naim and Br. Hafiz Zhafri are active members of the IIUM World Debate and Oratory Centre (IWON) Pagoh Campus, known for their excellence in oratory and critical discourse. Their participation not only brought recognition to IIUM Pagoh but also reflected the university’s continuous effort to nurture articulate and socially conscious speakers in line with the university’s vision of “Leading the Way, The IIUM Way.”

The prizes were presented by YB Dato’ Lukanisman bin Awang Sauni, Deputy Minister of Health Malaysia. Winners received cash prizes, trophies, and certificates sponsored by the Medical Device Authority Club (MeDAC) with support from Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) as a strategic partner.

Overall, the Medical Device Awareness Programme 2025 successfully fulfilled its mission to educate the public on the importance of registered and safe medical devices, while strengthening collaboration between government agencies, educational institutions, and the community.
