GOMBAK, 13 October 2025 : The Department of Communication, AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Reveal Knowledge and Human Sciences, kicked off Semester I of the 2025/2026 academic session with its Communication Academic Briefing (CAB) on Thursday, 2 October 2025. The event, which was held in HSC LR 27 and 28, was designed to welcome and guide new Communication students as they embark on their four-year journey at IIUM.
The main goal is to help new students understand course structures and create personalised study plans. It also provides an opportunity to them to know their lecturers and student societies under the Department of Communication.
Dr. Rizalawati binti Ismail, Head of the Department of Communication, warmly welcomed 134 new students. She urged them to strive for academic excellence and make the most of their time at the university.
Beyond academics, students were also introduced to five active societies under the Department of Communication. Communication Students’ Association (COSA) is the main student body that represents Communication students. IIUMTV gives students a chance to get involved in video production and broadcasting. IIUMToday is a training ground for students who love writing and want to explore journalism. IPRMSA connects students with the world of public relations and helps build professional networks. Lastly, IIUM.FM offers hands-on experience in radio production for students interested in radio industry.
These societies not only offer practical exposure but also help students build valuable soft skills and networks.
With the semester now in full swing, CAB has set a strong foundation for what promises to be a rewarding and enriching academic journey for IIUM’s new Communication students.***
