From intense selections to national-level tournaments, our talents once again proved that their voices are instruments of intellect, resilience, and leadership.

Sharpening Skills at the National Selection (29–31 July 2025)

At the close of July, ten Arabic debaters from IIUM Pagoh’s Arabic Debate Club (ADC) joined the grand selection camp at IIUM Gombak alongside their peers from the main campus. The contingent consisted of Nurulhuda Husna Binti Wan Mohd Rafi, Salsabeel Binti Norazam, Fatin Nadzirah binti Mohd Azhar, Ahmad Wildan Bin Romzan, Nurhafizah Mashitha Kholish, Imran Husaini Bin Mazlan, Muhammad Hafiz Zhafri Bin Abd Kamal, Khairunnisa Haziqah Binti Abdul Shukur, Muhammad Anas Bin Abdul Malek, and Farhan Nazmi Bin Ahmad Sayuti. Over the course of three nights, the young debaters were tested through rigorous debates, simulations, and intensive feedback sessions. Many were praised by trainers and selectors for their potential and spirit of learning. Arabic Smart Debate Academy 5.0 (15–16 August 2025)

In mid-August, IWON Pagoh continued its mission of nurturing future debaters through the Arabic Smart Debate Academy 5.0 (Bengkel Debat Bahasa Arab bersama SMKA Pagoh). The two-day workshop was designed to introduce the fundamentals of Arabic debate to a group of 22 enthusiastic students from SMKA Pagoh. The programme, led by Chief Facilitator, Muhammad Hanif Bin Naim, followed a structured yet interactive approach. Students began with ice-breaking activities before moving into core modules such as Definition of Debate, Mushkilah & Takrif, Bina’ Hujjah, and Iqna. The sessions combined theoretical input with practical exercises, ending with the creative segment “Terbang ke Zuhal,” which encouraged critical thinking and imaginative argumentation.

The workshop was supported by a dedicated team of facilitators: Fatin Nadzirah Binti Mohd Azhar, Nurul Haziqah Binti Md Haled, Nurhafizah Mashitha Kholish, Salsabeel Binti Norazam (President of IWON Pagoh and Programme Manager), Nik Ahmad Afiq Isra Bin Nik Muhamad Norisam, Muhammad Firdaus Bin Muhammad Shahir (SMKA Maahad Muar), Ayesha Sofea Binti Mohd Zamri (SMKA Maahad Muar), and Nur Najihah Sofea Binti Mohd Nor Hisham (SMKA Maahad Muar). The academy successfully equipped participants with essential skills in debate structure, argumentation, and persuasion, while also boosting their confidence to speak and think critically in Arabic. For many of the young students, it marked the beginning of a journey into the world of competitive debating.
