IIUMToday Embarks on First Overseas Media Attachment at UTCC, Thairath and ThaiPBS in Thailand

BANGKOK, July 30 2025 : IIUMToday marked its first-ever media attachment outside of Malaysia with a successful academic visit to the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) in Bangkok. The trip, held from 29 July to 1 August 2025, was part of the IIUMToday ASEAN Media Attachment 2025 programme and involved 12 student journalists committed to strengthening regional media and academic ties.

Upon arrival at UTCC on 30 July 2025, they were greeted with a warm welcome by Dr. Pitchpatu Waiyachote, Acting Dean of the School of Communication Arts, and her colleagues focusing on potential collaborations in research, publications, joint seminars (both physical and virtual), and student mobility.

A key highlight of the visit was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two institutions which is University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) and International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM).

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) and the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), marking a significant step toward future academic collaboration.


In addition to the institutional engagement, the programme also provided a platform for five IIUMToday students to present their academic papers, showcasing their research and insights in various areas of media and communication. The names are followed:

The visit to UTCC not only cemented cross-border academic collaboration but also offered IIUMToday student journalists valuable international exposure, cross-cultural engagement, and an opportunity to share their scholarly work with peers and academics from the ASEAN region.
