IIUMToday visits Thailand’s Oldest and Best-selling Daily Newspaper, Thairath News

Bangkok, 29 July 2025: During the first day of the IIUMToday ASEAN Media Attachment in Thailand 2025, Thairath media organisation gave a warm welcome to IIUMToday delegates who visited the TV studio. Thairath is one of the main platforms consumed by Thai audiences that exclusively reports daily news. It covers a wide range of daily events but focuses more on Thai societies and local news. Despite the changes of media from traditional news to digital news, Thairath continuously transforms with technology by having social media platforms to engage with people of Thailand.

The IIUMToday delegation explored the behind-the-scenes of Thairath. They were shown how news was broadcasted daily through TV and live events. Thairath also offers written news in addition to broadcast news.

The 17 year-experienced news anchor from Thairath, Golf Thasanai, shared his insights and stories to the students. His job scope as a news anchor was affected by the changes of technology where he said, “The digital broadcasting changes everything. In formal times, it was just me and reporting, but now, you have to interact with the audiences. You have to bear in mind that the broadcast will go online.”

Today’s broadcasting has changed simultaneously with the change of technology. Most of the TV broadcasts will be LIVE not only on TV but also on social media platforms such as, Youtube, Facebook and TikTok.

Moreover, he gave tips on how to become a successful news anchor. He highlighted that a news anchor should understand the news that will be revealed before delivering it to the audience. Constant practicing will also help a person to become confident in delivering the news especially when being used to practicing in front of the camera.

The visit to Thairath was concluded by having a group picture together in front of the Thairath board. It was a memorable journey to the IIUMToday delegates where they developed expertise in the news and broadcasting field.***
