GOMBAK, 1 August 2025: IIUM Robotic Competition (IRC) 2025 kicked off with Sumo Robots, one of the competitions out of five categories for the first day of their event at ICC Hall, IIUM Gombak on Saturday, 26 July 2025.
The Sumo Robots competition consisted of two categories: manual and autonomous sumo. Moreover, the autonomous sumo category includes three categories which are Autonomous Sumo 500g, 3kg Autonomous Sumo Magnetic and Autonomous Sumo 1kg. All of the categories of the competition were conducted throughout the day.
A total of 291 teams made up of students from primary and secondary schools joined the Sumo Robots category. The winners of the competition were announced during the closing ceremony of the first day of IRC 2025. The prizes were presented by the Dean of Kulliyyah of Engineering IIUM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khairul Azami Bin Sidek.

Champion : SMENJA BRAVO 3 from Sekolah Menengah Menjalara Kuala Lumpur
1st Runner-up : SPIANS 7 from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Pekan
2nd Runner-up : SQandar from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Iskandar
- Autonomous sumo 500g
Champion: DEKLIAN CX3 from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kompleks KLIA
1st Runner-up: CONSENDO 8 from Tunku Kurshiah College
2nd Runner-up: CONSENDO 5 from Tunku Kurshiah College
- 3kg Autonomous Sumo Magnetic
Champion: RHINO from Azimov Team
1st Runner-up: PRNS MARK V from Kelab Peminat Robotik Negeri Sembilan
2nd Runner-up: Medan Bravo from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Medan
- Autonomous Sumo 1kg
Champion: CONSENDO 12 from Tunku Kurshiah College
1st Runner-up: Tuah A from Sekolah Menengah Agama Persekutuan
2nd Runner-up: Jaya Omega from Sekolah Kebangsaan Seberang Jaya

After that, the closing ceremony continued with the token of appreciation given to the representatives of the event sponsors: Medal Satria and Yayasan Mr. DIY. Assoc. Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khairul Azami Bin Sidek was also given a token of appreciation as well.
The event proceeded with a video montage of the first day of IRC 2025. Lastly, the event ended as the participants gathered for a photography session.
According to their official booklet, IRC 2025 is an annual international level robotics competition which aims to provide a platform for students, especially primary and secondary, to showcase their robotics skills and cultivate a sense of unity and competition among participants.
