GOMBAK, 31 May 2025 : The Communication Festival (Comm Fest) 2025 officially concluded with a spectacular closing ceremony held at HSC Speech Lab 1.23, Human Sciences Building, IIUM Gombak on Thursday, 29 May, evening, celebrating three days of collaboration, creativity, and connection.
Organised by final-year communication students, the closing ceremony marked the end of the highly anticipated annual festival, bringing together students, lecturers, and guests to honour the efforts behind the success of the event.
The ceremony began at 5:00 p.m. with warm greetings by emcee, Nurul Nabilah Mahadzir, setting a reflective and celebratory tone. Attendees were then welcomed with a memorable speech by Program Director, Siti Sarah binti Muhammad Yuha, who expressed her gratitude to everyone who contributed to making Comm Fest 2025 a wonderful experience.

“What started as an idea became a festival that showcased the brilliance, creativity, and passion of our students,” she said. “Beyond the events and exhibitions, something truly magical happened. Our batch came together, formed bonds, and grew stronger as a team.”
She also highlighted major milestones such as the launch of Platform KID, insightful forums and talks, the postgraduate colloquium, and the student exhibitions that reflected the theme, “COMMpletely Connected.”
Next, Head of the Department of Communication, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tengku Siti Aisha Tengku Azzman, delivered a closing address, appreciating the students for their resilience, leadership, and strategic planning for such a multifaceted event. She praised the committees for making Comm Fest not just an event on their academic calendar, but a platform that cultivated real-world skills demonstrating the spirit of the department.
Following the speeches, a video montage played, bringing the audience down memory lane with highlights from the past three days. Laughter and cheers filled the room as moments from preparations, speaker sessions, and students flashed across the screen.
Excitement grew as the lucky draw segment began. Four lucky committee members: Syabila Syahira, Nasser Ali, Shuhada and Puteri Amirah walked away with prizes, adding a spark of joy to the evening’s program. The winners were greeted with loud applause and cheers from their fellow team members.
As the peak of the event began, the ceremony transitioned into a heartfelt musical performance by Comm Brothers, featuring Irfan Safwan’s vocals on “Bergema Sampai Selamanya” accompanied by guitar play from Ismaeel Haziq. The room fell into a moment of appreciation; the audiences joined in and enjoyed the moment.
The emcees finally returned to the stage to officially conclude the event. In her final words, she thanked all attendees for their support and participation and wished the best for the final-year students as they embark on their upcoming internships.
As the audience slowly dispersed, group photos followed, a beautiful end to a festival that was, above all, a celebration of connection, creativity, and community.
