GOMBAK, 20 March 2025: Postgraduate Student Society (PGSS), in collaboration with the Centre for Postgraduate Studies (CPS), successfully organized the Khatam Quran and PGSS Grand Iftar at the Royal Banquet, International Islamic Centre (ICC), IIUM. This sacred gathering in Ramadan symbolized a journey of spiritual enlightenment and academic perseverance for the postgraduate community.
The event began with the Khatam Quran, marking the completion of the Holy Quran recitation by postgraduate students. A heartfelt du’a followed, seeking blessings for the university and the ummah. As the Quran states, “And say, My Lord, increase me in knowledge.” (Surah Taha, 20:114), reminding students that learning is both a scholarly and spiritual endeavor.

The highlight of the evening was an inspiring talk by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Radwan Jamal Yousef Elatrash from AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences. Also in attendance was Dean of CPS, Prof Dr. Shahrul Naim, whose presence reaffirmed IIUM’s commitment to nurturing both intellectual and spiritual growth. The evening concluded with a grand iftar, fostering unity and gratitude among students.

This event reinforced the integration of spiritual devotion and academic pursuit, reflecting the essence of Ramadan—a time of reflection, discipline, and enlightenment. Just as fasting nurtures the soul, the pursuit of knowledge refines the mind, creating a holistic scholar who seeks wisdom with sincerity and perseverance. As IIUM upholds its mission of producing well-rounded intellectuals, PGSS remains committed to fostering an environment where postgraduate students thrive in both faith and knowledge.***
