GOMBAK, 5 December 2023: A member of the IIUM Board of Governors (BOG), Honourable Dato Sri Syed Hussien Abd Kadir, urged graduands to be goodwill ambassadors who will promote tolerance and understanding among people worldwide, reflect on justice, compassion, and integrity that they were taught during their time at the IIUM. These were some of his words of wisdom in his convocation address. It was delivered in the eighth session of the 39th IIUM Convocation Ceremony on 29 November 2023 at IIUM Gombak.
“Being knowledgeable and experienced characterise the graduands of the Kulliyah of Economics and Management Sciences (KENMS),” said Dato Sri Syed Hussien.
He also praised the graduands for their exceptional transformative academic achievements which were imbued with Islamic values and ethics.
Highlighting IIUMs commitment to fostering intellectual curiosity and critical thinking, he also said the diverse academic disciplines, from the humanities to the sciences, and IIUM’s holistic education merges knowledge and faith.
œ…in your pursuit of knowledge, you have not only gained expertise but also cultivated social responsibility. The dual emphasis on academic rigour and ethical conduct distinguishes the IIUM from other universities and I trust you our graduands will carry this legacy with honour, said Dato Sri Syed .
He also highlighted the universitys global stance on pressing contemporary issues and urged the graduands to venture into their respective fields and to make positive changes.***
