39th IIUM Convocation: 610 graduands receive scrolls in fourth session

GOMBAK, 27 November 2023: A total of 610 Bachelors degree graduands were conferred their degrees in the fourth session of the 39th IIUM Convocation Ceremony. There were 56 graduands from the Kulliyyah of Dentistry (KOD), 419 graduands from the Kulliyyah of Engineering (KOE) and 135 graduands from the Kulliyyah of Medicine (KOM).

The session took place this morning in the Main Hall of the IIUM Cultural Centre, IIUM Gombak.

The convocation ceremony began with the singing of the National Anthem of Malaysia, œNegaraku. This was followed by the opening declaration by a member of the IIUM Board of Governors, Professor Dr. Aminuddin Che Ahmad.

After the opening declaration, Muhammad Izzat Mukhalli from AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS) recited Surah Al-˜Alaq of the Holy Quran.

Professor Dr. Aminuddin then delivered the convocation address and asserted, œI am delighted to extend my warm congratulations to Kulliyyah of Engineering, graduands from IIUM Gombak campus; Kulliyyah of Dentistry graduands and Kulliyyah of Medicine graduands from IIUM Kuantan campus.

In the fourth session, the Dean of KOD, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd. Haikal Bin Muhamad Halil, began the conferment of degrees. The flow started with KOD, KOE and then KOM. The presentation of awards was carried out by the Deputy Rector (Academic and Internationalisation) and Chairman of the 39th IIUM Convocation Ceremony, Professor Dr. Ahmad Faris Ismail. 

The awards for KOD graduands went to the following:

  1. Ahmad Syiham bin Nasir won the Best Student (Overall) award.
  2. Aida Sakinah binti Mohamad Noraie won the Best Student (Academic) award.
  3. Mohd Zuheem bin Hamzah won the Best Student (Co-curricular) award.

The awards for KOE graduands went to the following:

  1. Dr. Merrad Yacine won the Best Student award for Doctor of Philosophy.
  2. Aina Basyirah binti Ahmad Razali won the Best Student (Overall) award.
  3. Muhammad Zikry bin Huzaimi won the Best Student (Academic) award.
  4. Zarifah Irdina binti Sulong won the Best Student (Co-curricular) award.

The awards for KOM graduands went to the following:

  1. Muhamad Affiq Idham bin Ismail won the Best Student (Overall) award.
  2. Wan Amni Nadhirah binti Wan Zulkifly won the Best Student (Academic) award.
  3. Nur Syafiqah binti Jalalludin won the Best Student (Co-curricular) award.

The valedictorian speech in the session was delivered by KOE graduand, Aina Basyirah binti Ahmad Razali.

Professor Dr. Aminuddin ended the ceremony by mentioning, œDear graduates, you are now officially the alumni of the International Islamic University Malaysia.” He then declared the adjournment of the convocation ceremony.

The ceremony closed with the dua recitation led by Ustaz Muhammad Ramadan Subki Abdullah from IIUM’s Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Mosque (SHAS Mosque). ***
