GOMBAK, 26 November 2023: The President of the IIUM, Tan Sri Samsudin Osman, urged graduands to be responsible for the knowledge and skills they have equipped themselves with, during his convocation address in the second session of the 39th IIUM Convocation ceremony held at the Main Hall of the IIUM Cultural Activity Centre (CAC), today.
œAs you receive your degrees today, you also have a big responsibility, the responsibility to use your knowledge and skills to promote unity, respect and cooperation, Tan Sri Samsudin mentioned to the audience.
He emphasised that the graduands must continue to work hard and give services to the ummah, no matter how big or small it is. They also should continue raising their voices regarding issues of injustice around them and stand firm to support the truth.
œMay your knowledge be a light that guides you in making a positive impact on all of humanity, he added.
He proceeded to explain the concept of Madani, which serves as the guiding principle for Malaysia’s progressive advancement. He asserted that this concept reflects various components that encompass the essence of the IIUM, which are the aspects of sustainability and prosperity on the basis of trust and compensation.
In the Convocation Ceremony, he quoted the words of wisdom from Imam Al-Ghazali, “Menuntul ilmu adalah taqwa, menyampaikan ilmu adalah ibadah, mencari ilmu adalah jihad, through which reflect the crucial role of knowledge in the lives of individuals.
The President congratulated all graduands for completing their studies and hoped that the experience and knowledge that they gained from the IIUM will deepen their love for Allah.
In his concluding remark, the President reminded graduands that knowledge should not be abandoned because knowledge is the light in our life and widens narrow spaces.***
