GOMBAK, 15 May 2023: “The Communication Festival 2023 is a successful event by Communication Students Associations (COSA) and internship students that have given students a gist of the professions in the Communication field, through stakeholders,” said Dr. Nur Shakira Mohd Nasir during the festival’s closing ceremony.
In an interview with IIUMToday, Dr. Shakira took the opportunity to congratulate COSA, internship students, and Communication Society clubs because of their good teamwork and cooperation throughout the event, making it successful.
She noted that the event has reached the goal for students to gain experience and engage with stakeholders such as BERNAMA, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), Sinar Daily, and others in getting an idea of how organizations work.
A third-year communication student, Sr. Dini Izzati conveyed her gratitude towards the organisers of the festival by saying that it was a good exposure and guidance for students before doing their Final Year Project.
The President of COSA, Sr. Sarah Kamilia expressed her satisfaction with the participation of Communication and non-Communication students during the festival by saying, “This event has built unity throughout the exhibitions gallery visits, booth visits, talks, and others.”
She added, “The students’ clubs really played their roles in attracting students to know more about Communication courses through the activities and engagement at the booths.”
She further explained, “This event helps non-Communication and new students to expand their knowledge about the field of Communication such as Journalism, Public relations, Marketing Communication, and others.”
“All the Heads of Departments in the AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS) gave positive feedback after their visits and noted that the Communication festival was a good event,” said Sr. Sarah.
“The festival advisors, Dr. Shakira and Dr. Mohd. Helmi Yusoh have guided COSA and internship students a lot in this successful event. I would like to thank everyone who was involved in the Communication Festival 2023,” she concluded
The closing ceremony was held at the Human Sciences (HS) building and continued with the Communication Eid 2023 celebration in HS Square.***
