GOMBAK, 12 May 2023: Bulan Pembimbing Rakan Siswa Kebangsaan 2023 was launched on May 3 by the President of Majlis Kaunseling dan Kerjaya Universiti Malaysia (MAKUMA), Lt. Kol. Prof. Ts. Dr. Muhd Zu Azhan bin Yahya.
“Various activities and programmes will be implemented this month that focuses on the development and well-being of students on campus,” said Prof. Ts. Dr. Zu Azhan.
According to the Programme Manager of National Pembimbing Rakan Siswa Month 2023, Muhammad Farhan bin Ismail said that the programme will be launched at the national level starting this year.
Muhammad Farhan said that the programme is aimed at empowering the role of peer mentors (PRS) in universities in supporting students’ well-being.
With the theme of “Sinergi PRS Pemangkin Mahasiswa Sejahtera”, Muhammad Farhan added, “with a vision of continuity, coordination, agreement, harmony between PRS in universities.”
The programmes will be implemented in three levels, which are the university level, zone level, and national level, said the Programme Manager.
Some of the programmes are a collection of inspirational mental well-being and career (university level), the Mental Health Therapy Programme #PRSKHealingTime (zone level), and the ‘Katarsis’ mental well-being awareness theatre show (national level).
The programme will also be joined by all 20 public universities in Malaysia, including Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
The programmes by Bulan Pembimbing Rakan Siswa Kebangsaan 2023 are set to be conducted from 1 May until 30 May 2023.
The Bulan Pembimbing Rakan Siswa Kebangsaan 2023 is organised by MAKUMA together with Majlis Perwakilan Pembimbing Rakan Siswa Kebangsaan (MPPRSK) for the first time starting this year.***
