GOMBAK, 11 December 2022: Best Student (Co-Curricular), Farah Wahida binti Ghazali from Kulliyyah of Allied Health Sciences (KAHS) inspired graduands to contribute their expertise on improving the ummah in her valedictorian speech in the ninth session of the 38th of IIUM Convocation Ceremony on Wednesday (7 December).
She explained that IIUM aspires to restore the dynamic and progressive roles of Muslims in all branches of knowledge and intellectual discourse.
Believing that it will make us better Muslims, she highlighted that the most important thing is to always be in line with Islamic teachings by pursuing knowledge as an ibadah and amanah that Allah has placed upon us.
She also stressed that having beneficial knowledge is relevant as it is based on the saying of the Prophet SAW, œWhen a man dies, his good deeds come to an end, except three, ongoing charity, beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who will pray for him.
In light of this, she encouraged, œLets do good deeds by contributing our knowledge to the ummah.
œAlthough we have graduated and ended our life as students from this university, it does not mean that all our struggles and hardships have ended. The learning process needs to be continued, she said.
She ended her speech by quoting a translated hadith from Imam Shafie, “Bila kamu tak tahan penatnya belajar, maka kamu akan menanggung peritnya kebodohan, as a motivation for the graduands to keep on studying.**
