AHAS KIRKHS graduates told to use education to set things right

GOMBAK, 7 December 2022: A total of 635 graduates of AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS) were urged to make things right in this confusing and complicated world with the knowledge and spiritual empowerment given by the university.

The message was conveyed by Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dzulkifli Abdul Razak, the IIUM Rector, during the fifth session of the 38th IIUM Convocation Ceremony on Monday (5 December).

The Rector mentioned that the knowledge gained will guide the students to make changes in this difficult world.

“As far as the university is concerned, it is not just delivering education but delivering education in the right way and putting things right when they have gone wrong,” he said.

In relation to this, he mentioned that IIUM students have been taught the best worldview which is the Islamic worldview equipped with values, ethics, and a moral compass that would help them make a humble and sophisticated decisions.

The Rector called upon the graduates to transform all these into action so that the world’s communities will benefit from them, especially the Muslim community.

The graduates were advised to work and move together as ambassadors and embodiments of the IIUM who will lead changes to the world, which is in line with the university’s motto, Leading the Way and KhAIR (Khalifah, Amanah, Iqra’, Rahmatan Lil Alamin).

He also stated the world’s concern for refugees and urged students to help them like how the university helped Bosnian refugees in 1992 and plans to do more in future with the Rohingyas. He said that it is the mission and responsibility of the graduates to help other Muslims develop themselves so they could contribute to their own countries.

“IIUM students serve as the beating heart and soul of the university, a soul that is living, a soul that is sensitive to the pride of others.”

In his concluding speech, the IIUM Rector hoped that the graduates would return next year when IIUM celebrates its 40th anniversary to show their contributions to the community around them upon graduation.***
