GOMBAK, 8 November 2022: The Secretariat of Sociology and Anthropology (SOCASA) IIUM will open booths selling items from 9 to 10 November (Wednesday and Thursday) and hold a single mother empowerment forum on 10 November 2022 (Thursday).
Organised by SOCASA, along with its collaborators SOCACARE and SOCASALE, the programmes aim to support single mothers and their children in their journey to achieve a better livelihood.
The booths will be operating from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm at HS building, while the forum will be held from 8:30 pm to 10:30 pm at the Mini Auditorium, IIUM.
The booths will be selling items for people of all genders and ages like scarves, clothing, biblio press, accessories button badges, motivational stickers, and many others.
Meanwhile, the forum entitled œThe Story Behind Single Mothers: Stigma, Struggle and Entrepreneurship will feature three panelists from different backgrounds sharing their experiences as a single mother living in a harsh community.
Among the panelists are the Founder of Pertubuhan Kebajikan the Gagaks Selangor, Ms. Alya Shahida Allias, Deputy Chairman of the Federal Territories and Selangor Islamic Single Mother Organization, Madam Rohana Abdul Wahab, and Chief Executive Officer at Training & Consulting Specialist Celebrating Thinkers Sdn Bhd, Madam Fatimah Abu Bakar.

A single mother policy all around the world exhibition will also be held from 8.30 to 9.50am and from 2.00 to 3.30pm for the participants to further enjoy their time while visiting SOCASAs booths.
