AHAS KIRKHS Festival a success, says Dr. Noh

GOMBAK, 8 November 2022: After two years of the pandemic, the AHAS KIRKHS festival was a huge success and received praises from the Kulliyyah’s Deputy Dean of Student Development and Community Engagement, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd. Noh Abdul Jalil.

After the closing ceremony on Friday (4 November), Dr. Noh shared with IIUMToday how proud he is of the success of the festival that can be attributed to the competence of the students at the university.

“I have always held our students in high regard as they are known to be good academically and we only accept the best students or the crème de la crème to our university,” he expressed.

He added, the organising committee members were also first timers and Dr. Noh promised to continue supporting this kind of event in the future if they continue to do a great job from start to finish.

“Organising skills is something we expect our students to be equipped with and although there is a lot of room for improvement, I’m sure this was a valuable experience for them,” he said.

Dr. Noh explained that experiences gained from managing activities for the festival is important to IIUM students because it can give them skills beyond the classroom as well as sharpen them.

In total, 10 secretariats from AHAS KIRKHS involved in both competition and festival organisation.

They were the Secretariat of History and Civilization (HISTFORIUM), Secretariat of English Language & Literature (ELITS), Qur’an & Sunnah Studies Student Association (QUSSA), Secretariat of Arabic Language & Literature (ALA), Secretariat of Sociology & Anthropology (SOCASA), Psychology Student Association (PSYCSTA), Secretariat of Usul al-Din and Comparative Religion (UDCY), Secretariat of Fiqh and Usul Al-Fiqh (SOFI), Secretariat of Political Science (POSSA), and Communication Students’ Association (COSA).

The festival was held from 27th of October until 4th of November which included both the intellectual festival and sports events.

Dr. Noh’s final message was to encourage all students of AHAS KIRKHS to get involved in activities organised by their secretariats.

“This is because the secretariat is the backbone of our students’ activities and if they are on board, we will get more creative ideas that can benefit the students themselves,” he explained.

Dr. Noh concluded saying that he wanted to see students becoming more active and take part in the Kulliyyah’s future festivals.***
