GOMBAK, 12 October 2022: The Deputy Dean of Student Development and Community Engagement, Dr. Mohd Noh Abdul Jalil, has called for an active participation among new student in initiatives provided by departmental clubs.
Speaking to the new students of Abdulhamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS) at the briefing and welcoming event, he said student should be more active rather than in their own “world”.
“Do not confine yourselves within the four walls of your room or lecture halls, go outside, be involved in becoming a holistic student and champion the cause of our ummah.”
“We want to make sure that you develop yourself into becoming a more holistic university student where you can be confident enough to carry on the role of Khalifah and lead the community after graduation.”
Dr Mohd Noh further reassured students that they are in good hands by stating, “We are working with other offices to ensure that you will be equipped with employability skills to fulfil your duties as a Khalifah.”
Dr Mohd Noh shared offices like Counselling and Career Services Centre (CCSC), IIUM Endowment Fund (IEF), Student and Scholarship Unit in the Finance Division, and Welfare Management Unit under Student Affairs and Development Division (STADD) are ready to provide services to improve and complement students’ experiences at the university.
He also added that students should seek help from murabbi, academic advisors, and head of departments who are more than ready to give advice about their studies.
“You are not alone, please talk to us, and we will provide you with the necessary advice Insya-Allah,” he emphasised.
This welcoming session was attended by the Dean of AHAS KIRKHS, Prof. Dr. Shukran Abd Rahman, Deputy Dean of Academic and Internalisation, Assoc. Prof. Datin Dr. Aini Maznina A. Manaf and Senior Assistant Director, madam Huraizah Mat Hassan, Kulliyyah academic advisors, and new intake students from KIRKHS at IIUM Main Auditorium.***
