Gombak, 18 August 2022: The graduation ceremony that was put on hold for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic brought Nor Khairunnisa Binti Ahmad Jaman and her younger sister, Norfasihah Diana Binti Ahmad Jaman, in the same graduation ceremony.

Graduated in Human Sciences (English Language and Literature), AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS), both received their scrolls at the 9th session of the 37th Convocation held yesterday (17 August).

Despite a one-year age gap between them, Khairunnisa revealed that they were able to graduate on the same day because Norfasihah finished her foundation studies within one year as opposed to her, who completed the foundation within a year and a half.

“I enrolled earlier in undergraduate studies, and since she only made her foundation for one year, we were one semester apart during our bachelor’s degree years”, Khairunnisa explained.

Her graduation ceremony was supposedly held earlier than Norfasihah’s. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, she had to wait another year to officially become an alumnus of IIUM.

However, Khairunnisa perceived this unexpected event as a blessing in disguise since they could save time, energy, and money other than sharing a special day with her sister.

According to Norfasihah, spending four years of a bachelor’s degree and taking the same major as her sister certainly put her under pressure as she perceives Khairunnisa as ingenious since she was listed in the Rector’s List Award for her outstanding academic achievement.

Their father, Ahmad Jaman, reckoned that it is every parent’s dream to behold their children’s success while hoping this will be the impetus for his other children to succeed in academics.

Ahmad Jaman also expressed his gratitude towards IIUM for being a place for his daughters to seek knowledge until they completed their bachelor’s degrees.***
