GOMBAK, 25 April 2022: The first elected tenure of IIUM Student Union (IIUMSU) was dissolved on Saturday (23 April) at its Annual General Meeting (AGM) with opening remarks by Deputy Rector (Student Development and Community Engagement), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zulkifli bin Hassan, emphasising good governance and holistic movement for a sustainable future of the union.

Covering the operations of Gombak, Kuantan and Pagoh campuses, the presentation of programme and financial reports by the IIUMSU Office of Secretary and Office of Treasurer respectively showed an overall improvement in its performance in being more detailed and accountable following feedback from previous AGM.

IIUMSU programmes were operated under twenty goals which catered to various matters such as COVID-19, sexual harassment issue, welfare matters, and merchandise. The union had collaborated with multiple entities inside and outside IIUM in carrying out its programmes.

The financial report presented in the ‘end of financial year’ method showed that the sum of money in the IIUMSU account for year ending 31 December 2021 is RM105,161.

During the Question and Answer (Q and A) session there were many questions raised which prompted suggestions from the students for such session to be held more frequently.

After two hours of intense debate, IIUMSU 21/22 was officially dissolved by Muhammad Darwisy bin Roslan, the president of IIUM Student Union 21/22.

The operations of the student union will now be placed under the IIUMSU caretakers until a new line-up is elected during IIUMSU Election scheduled on 21 May this year.

Darwisy wrapped up the tenure by reminding everyone present that a union could not exist without support given by its members and the spirit unity present among everyone. ***
