Regarding travel by daily commuters between Thailand and Malaysia, Health Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin states that the governments of Malaysia and Thailand are still having discussions regarding this topic.

On a more hopeful note, on 23 March, Thailand Tourism and Sports Minister, Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn announced that it is working with the relevant Malaysian authorities to open all land border gates by the 1 May.

It should also be noted that during Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakobs official visit to Thailand on 25 February, Malaysia and Thailand have come to an agreement on opening a VTL (Vaccinated Travel Lane) soon between Malaysia and Thailand which will enable quarantine-free travel between both countries via land, air and sea. ***
