Afiq Hakimi on key to balance academic with co-curricular activities

GOMBAK, 16 March 2022: Muhammad Afiq Hakimi bin Ismail who graduated with a Bachelor in Urban and Regional Planning under Kulliyyah of Architecture and Environmental Design (KAED) and received Best Overall Student, believed in maintaining a balance between academic and co-curricular activities. 

Muhammad Afiq was in the Mahallah Representative Council (MRC) in his first year and became the president of ARCHIMIC, the Architecture Kuliyyah Based Society (KBS) in his third year, and received the Dean’s List award every semester.

He recalled one of the memorable struggles as a KAED student was the sleepless nights at the studio.

Asked on how he was able to balance both academics and co-curricular activities, Muhammad Afiq stated that the key is stress management and a good support system. 

He shared that his wife, Aisyah binti Jamalludin, who graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Arts and Design in the same session, was the strongest support system after his family members.

Muhammad Afiq received his scroll at the 7th session of IIUM’s 36th Convocation. He expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to attend a physical convocation graduating together with his wife, and witnessed by both their parents. 

He currently works as Assistant Town Planner at Yuniq Planning Consultant Sdn Bhd in Denai Alam.***
