MERCY Malaysia receives Ibn Khaldun Merit Award at IIUM’s 36th Convocation

GOMBAK, 12 March 2022: Malaysian Medical Relief Society (MERCY Malaysia), an international non-profit organisation was conferred the Ibn Khaldun Merit Award at the 36th / 37th IIUM Convocation Ceremony​ this morning.

The award was presented by the President of IIUM, Tan Sri Dr. Daud Mohd Bakar for its contribution in providing humanitarian aids for vulnerable communities in 32 countries around the world. ​

Present at the convocation to receive the award was the​ President of MERCY Malaysia, Dr. Ahmad Perdaus.

According to Ahmad Perdaus, the award does not only recognise the sacrifices, hard work, blood, sweat and tears ​of the people in MERCY but also the thinking and the innovation that have been drawn from this organisation from its inception 23 years ago.

“This award is in recognition of the most important people in the sphere of the work that we do who are the recipients of the aids, and with the generosity of some of you here, we are able to do this,” Ahmad Perdaus further noted in his speech.

MERCY Malaysia’s humanitarian and community programmes focus on several areas such as medical aid, mental health and psychosocial support, food and non-food aid, and total disaster risk management and building resilient communities.***​
