KUALA LUMPUR, 9 January 2022: Malaysia today recorded 3,251 new cases in the past 24 hours, slightly decreased compared to yesterday.
According to Health Director-General, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the total cumulative number of COVID-19 cases nationwide now stands at 2,783,331.
16 more fatalities have been confirmed, taking the cumulative COVID-19 death toll to 31,644 to date, including two cases of brought-in-ded (BID).
As of today, 243 patients required treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) with 113 patients requiring respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, 3,161 patients have recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,711,900.
From the 3,251 cases reported today, 1.8% or 58 cases are in Category 3, 4, and 5 while 98.2% or 3,193 cases are under Category 1 and 2 which involves patients with mild or no symptoms.
Dr. Noor Hisham also disclosed that two new COVID-19 clusters were discovered in the last 24 hours bringing the total active clusters to 176.***
