KICT’s professor secures cyber security award

GOMBAK, 16 December 2021: Prof. Dr. Mohamad Fauzan bin Noordin from Kulliyyah of Information and Communication Technology has recently been pioneered as the winner of ‘Cybersafe Professional of the Year’ in the Cyber Security Malaysia Awards, Conference & Exhibition (CSM-ACE) 2021.

Cyber Security Malaysia – Awards, Conference & Exhibition (CSM-ACE) is a public-private-partnership driven event and a knowledge-sharing platform that recognises the contribution of individuals and organisations in the field of cyber security.

Mohamad Fauzan Noordin received his Ph.D. from University of Wales (UK), in 1997, MBA from Central Missouri State University (USA) in 1991, and BSc. (Computer Science) from University of Missouri-Kansas City (USA) in 1989.

Currently, he is Head of ICT and Islam Research Cluster. He was the Dean, Centre for Postgraduate Studies, International Islamic University Malaysia (2012-2013), a visiting scholar at the University of Bahrain (2004-2005), and Jazan University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (2010-2011).

Interestingly, Mohamad Fauzan was awarded Gold Medal at Malaysia Technology Expo 2016 (MTE) and received international recognition from Qatar Foundation Hamad Bin Khalifa University in 2019.

This prominent leader is also a Bronze Award recipient for Animation Category entitled “Al-Kahfi” and Promising Award for Animation Category entitled “Al-Biruni” at Islamic World Film Festival 2013.

Besides these achievements, he has been a member of the research panel for the Research Grants Scheme at Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation since 2005, a panel member for National Dakwah Policy of Malaysia (JAKIM), and a Senior Fellow at International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT).

Mohamad Fauzan Nordin is also a Member of Majlis Syura Kerajaan Negeri Pulau Pinang, Majlis Agama Islam Pulau Pinang and Chairman of Cyber Security Committee of Malaysia, Malaysia Crime Prevention Foundation (2019).

Also present at the event were Chairman of the Board of Cyber Security Malaysia, General Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Mohd Azumi Mohamed, and Secretary-General of Ministry of Communications and Multimedia, Datuk Sri Mohammad Mentek.

The 12th edition of CSM-ACE which took place from 14 to 17 December was held in hybrid and was attended by cyber security professionals, industry leaders, technology investors, academics, and government officials.***
