KUALA LUMPUR, 8 November 2021: The National Family Month introduced in 2012 will now be called the Malaysian Family Month (Bulan Keluarga Malaysia) starting this year, Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

The Prime Minister launched the Malaysian Family Month 2021 at Taman Botani Perdana near here on Sunday (7 November). He said that this event which was celebrated every November served as a platform to strengthen the family institutions in Malaysia.

Earlier in August this year, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob launched the Malaysian Family concept during his inauguration speech as the ninth Prime Minister.

Through this concept, the idea of Malaysians as one big family which transcends race and religion is being instilled.

“The Malaysian Family Month also helped in unifying the community while struggling to combat against the ongoing setbacks towards the community which include an economic crisis and the COVID-19 outbreak.”

Besides the involvement from the ministries and state governments, the Prime Minister also urged private sectors, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), and the Malaysian community to participate in the family well-being programme.

Also present were the Minister of Women, Family and Community Development, Datuk Seri Rina binti Mohd Harun, Federal Territories Minister, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, and Higher Education Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad. ***
