GOMBAK, 6 November 2021: Chairman of Pertubuhan Berita Nasional Malaysia (BERNAMA), Senator Datuk Ras Adiba Radzi received an official appointment letter as Distinguished Fellow of Communication and Media Centre (COMET), IIUM on Friday (5 November).
The appointment letter was presented to her by the Dean of AbdulHamid AbuSulayman Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (AHAS KIRKHS), Prof. Dr. Shukran Abdul Rahman. Her appointment takes effect from 1 August 2021 until 31 July 2022.
In her speech during the official ceremony for the naming of the Kulliyyah as AHAS KIRKHS, Datuk Ras Adiba shared her aspirations to serve IIUM to the best of her abilities.
She said: œHaving come so far and rising still, the university has come in full range of achievements and challenges of our current times. I would use these weeks to consult widely on how best to proceed with our common agenda of reform and revitalisation.
I will listen attentively to your concerns, especially the students, my brothers and sisters, expectations and admonitions. I am an optimist and I am full of hope for the future of our university. Let us work together for IIUM that can deliver more and better.
With her experience, Datuk Ras Adiba said that she will share with students on how they can be extraordinary and will fully support them so that they can go far in the eyes of the world.
Speaking on her appointment, IIUM Rector, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Dzulkifli Abdul Razak said her expertise will help COMET achieve greater heights with research and development in the field of media and communication and in networking locally and internationally with government agencies and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
The Rector shared, œAs the President of OKU Sentral and Member of the Senate representing the disabled, her appointment to some extent can give awareness to people with disabilities to continue their studies to higher levels.
As a Distinguished Fellow, Datuk Ras Adiba will be responsible to give lectures, seminars or workshops to students, administrators, and academicians on topics that are aligned with her expertise.
The official ceremony for the naming of the Kulliyyah AHAS KIRKHS was held in hybrid mode though Zoom platform and live from the Kulliyyah Square.
Present during the ceremony were former IIUM Rectors, former Deans and current Deputy Deans of the Kulliyyah.
