GOMBAK, 29 September 2021: Surah Al-Alaq is the soul of IIUM in producing excellent leaders and helping the ummah.

This is shared by Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Kamal Hassan in a live session on Monday (27 September) where he stated that the philosophy of IIUM was described as the soul of the institution.

He shared: “The soul is the most important part of the body. Surah Al-Alaq shows us that Allah commands us to acquire knowledge in the name of Allah.

By making surah Al-Alaq as the soul of IIUM, it will produce leaders that will always strive to seek knowledge in the name of Allah and will regard this journey as a jihad.”

One of IIUM’s missions is to become a leading international centre of educational excellence that produces dynamic leaders, as well as shaping a progressive ummah that excels in all kinds of knowledge.

He claimed, “We want to recapture the glory of Islam in all branches of knowledge that we have lost for the last centuries, not by swords and killings, but by being excellent in knowledge and in promotion of useful technologies.”

A session with Professor Emeritus Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Kamal Hassan, honorary professor of International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM), was organised virtually by the committee of IIUM Ta’aruf week semester 1, 2021/2022 to give an in-depth explanation regarding IIUM’s philosophy, vision and mission to the new intake students.
