GOMBAK, 15 September 2021: Ahead of the new semester commencing on 4 October, IIUM has issued its official guidelines for its campus reopening and students’ return.

The guidelines were developed in consideration of the rising vaccination rate in staffs and students, which are currently at 96 and 65 per cent respectively.

Starting 15 October, returning students and new students who are fully vaccinated (14 days after the second dose of two-dose vaccines, 28 days after one-dose vaccines) are granted access to campus in stages.

The schedule, which will be posted on the i-Ma’luum website, can be viewed beginning 20 September.

Thus, both undergraduate and postgraduate students who wish to return to campus should obtain permission from their respective Kulliyyahs, which will also be available on the same date as mentioned above.

Before returning, students are encouraged to undergo a COVID-19 self-test and they will have to undergo a COVID-19 monitoring period upon their arrival which will be coordinated by the Occupational, Safety, Health, and Built Environment Department (OSHBE).

As IIUM has the right to deny any entrance to the campus, the guidelines also work as a reminder that those who are unvaccinated have not completed their doses will have to contact their Kulliyyahs for advice on getting their vaccinations completed.

Lastly, students and staff on campus are reminded to always practise social distancing and avoid activities that can risk contamination.

Those who experience COVID-19 symptoms or have had close contact with someone tested positive for COVID-19 and/or a Person Under Investigation (PUI) will not be allowed on campus.

Symptomatic students on campus must report their status to the IIUM Health and Wellness Clinic (IHWC) or other IIUM health facilities. The IHWC Gombak general line is 03-6421 4444.***
