KUALA LUMPUR, 13 September 2021: The Federal Government and Pakatan Harapan (PH) today made a national history by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Transformation and Political Stability which took place at the Banquet Hall, Parliament.

The Prime Minister, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the MoU covered six items including the Strengthening of the COVID-19 Plan, Administrative Transformation, and Parliamentary Reform.

Apart from that, the other three are the Independence of Judicial Institutions, the 1963 Malaysia Agreement (MA63) and the Establishment of the Steering Committee.

“The government is confident that this memorandum of understanding will not only be able to put aside all political differences, but also be able to ensure that the country’s recovery runs holistically and inclusively.

“The highest appreciation to the Honorable Members who have made up their minds, set aside political ideological differences to jointly drive the economic stability and well-being of the Malaysian Family,” he said in a statement today.

The MoU was executed by the Prime Minister together with the senior leadership of PH, namely PKR President and Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Also signing the MoU were DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu and UPKO president Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau.

Meanwhile, the MPs reported to be present were Tan Sri Annuar Musa, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution, Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, Anthony Loke Siew Fook and Datuk Donald Peter Mojuntin.

Elaborating further, the Prime Minister said the memorandum formed a solid and strong ‘two-partisan’ cooperation by raising the spirit of the Malaysian Family, in line with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s order in conjunction with the opening of the First Meeting, Fourth Term of the Fourteenth Parliament today.

He explained that the desire of Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin AlMustafa Billah Shah is for all parties to practise deliberative democracy in finding solutions to any problems in order to achieve the goal of a Prosperous, Inclusive and Sustainable Malaysia.

“The spirit of the Keluarga Malaysia or Malaysian Family which emphasises unity, agreement and togetherness is what was expressed in the memorandum of understanding by the government and the Honourable Members this evening.

“The transformation introduced by the government will not only lead to excellent governance in combating COVID-19 and economic recovery, but also catalyse a conducive investment climate, thus driving strong economic growth for the well-being of Malaysian families,” he added.***
