Two more losses from the IIUM learned community

GOMBAK, 19 August 2021: International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) expressed its deepest condolences on the passing of two former IIUM academicians, Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hamid A. Abu Sulayman and Dr. Azlin binti Alwi.

Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hamid A. Abu Sulayman served as IIUM’s rector from 1988 to 1998. The renowned and beloved Islamic scholar was also the chairman of the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIT).

Dr. Azlin binti Alwi was a former lecturer from the Department of Psychology, Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences (KIRKHS).

The Secretariat of Psychology (PSYCSTA) IIUM expressed in their Instagram post @psycstaiium, “May Allah S.W.T. reward her for all her good deeds and grant her the highest level of Jannah. We pray that Allah will give her family the strength to face this loss and ease everything for them InshaAllah.”

A virtual Yasin recitation for Dr. Azlin had been conducted by PSYCSTA on 18 August (Wednesday) at 9.00 p.m. via Zoom and YouTube.

May Allah S.W.T. grant Prof. Emeritus Dato’ Dr. Abdul Hamid A. Abu Sulayman and Dr. Azlin binti Alwi bountiful blessings and place them with the righteous ones. Aamin.
