KUALA LUMPUR, 8 August 2021: National track cycling ace, Datuk Mohd Azizulhasni Awang took home a silver medal for Malaysia in the men’s keirin event at the Izu Velodrom in Shizuoka, Japan today.
The 33-year-old former world champion finished second behind Great Britain’s Olympic specialist Jason Kenny and ahead of Harrie Lavreysen of the Netherlands.
Kenny sprinted out far and kept the pace going till the finishing line.
It was still Malaysia’s second medal in Tokyo after men’s badminton doubles pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik won bronze.
For the record, Datuk Azizulhasni Awang had previously won bronze at the Rio 2016 Olympics.***
