KUALA LUMPUR, 14 June 2021: It was a glorious moment for Malaysia with the Jalur Gemilang soaring high above Spanish soil following the victory of Moto3 rider Syarifuddin Azman in the FIM CEV Moto3 Junior World Championship.

Syarifuddin won Race 1 in the third round of the championship in Barcelona on Sunday (13 June ), finishing the 16-lap race in 29:32.533, beating David Munoz Rodriguez of Spain into second place.

The SIC Racing rider was, however, unlucky in the second race as he crashed during the 11th lap.

The 25 points from today’s win helped Syarifuddin climb up to 10th place in the world championship standings with 31 points.

“Alhamdulillah. Thank you to the team who worked hard for this week’s race. Thank you also to the crew leader, team manager and also Datuk Razlan (Razali) who came here to give support.

“It was a gratifying achievement thanks to those who provided support and also to the family,” Syarifuddin said.

Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin took to Facebook to congratulate Syarifuddin on his maiden win, saying he had made the country proud.

“Surely only determination, perseverance and courage can lead a racer to be called a champion.

“Congratulations Syarifuddin and all team members on your success,” Tan Sri Muhyiddin said in his Facebook post on Monday (14 June).

Other than that, Youth and Sports Minister, Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican was among those to congratulate Syarifuddin on his win in a Facebook post Monday (14 June).

The next race is scheduled to take place on 4 July 2021 at the Algarve Circuit, Portugal.***
